The City of Campbell River's facilities are flying flags at half-mast this week in honour of those who lost their lives or were injured during the Lapu-Lapu Day Black Party in Vancouver on April 26.
"The City extends sincere and heartfelt sympathies to everyone whose life has been touched by this terrible event," reads the city's post on its Facebook page posted on April 29.
Eleven people were killed during the festival when the driver of a black SUV drove into the crowd around 8 p.m. The youngest victim of the attack was only five. Her parents were also killed.

A 30-year-old man, Kai-Ji Adam Lo, was arrested by police at the scene on the same day.
The Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party in Vancouver was a celebration of Lapu-Lapu Day, a Filipino holiday in honour of Datu (chief) Lapu-Lapu, who beat Spanish forces led by Ferdinand Magellan at the Battle of Mactan in 1521.
The government of British Columbia officially recognized April 27 as Lapu-Lapu Day in 2023. Filipinos make up the third-largest cultural group in B.C.
