Changes are on the horizon for the Campbell River & District Coalition to End Homelessness.
The Coalition is transitioning to a registered non-profit organization after completing a five-year strategic plan with the support of Resilience Planning and the Campbell River Community Foundation through the federal Community Services Recovery Fund.
“Among other things, this move will help us better align with what we are seeing as emerging practices in other communities, such as the Nanaimo Systems Planning Organization and the Cowichan Housing Association. In the future, it will help us build capacity, as our scope has had to remain fairly limited to date,” says Stefanie Hendrickson, Coalition coordinator.
With the change to non-profit, the organization adjusted its purpose and mandate and will change its name. The new purpose of the organization will be: "To work across sectors to support the development of a coordinated regional approach to address priority housing needs in the Strathcona region."
The Coalition is looking for people to join its first board of directors.
"We believe that diverse perspectives and experiences enrich decision-making. We are dedicated to building a board that is inclusive of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities," says Hendrickson. "We hope to receive a broad array of interest so that we can build a board that will be inclusive of a variety of viewpoints and skill sets and include the voices of underrepresented groups."
