The Powell River and Quadra Island RCMP detachments teamed up to retrieve a stolen boat.
Quadra Island RCMP requested the Powell River RCMP to assist in intercepting a stolen boat in the Mitenatch Island area at roughly 8 a.m. on April 8.
The boat was stolen out of Campbell River and tracked by GPS and the RCMP Air Services.
The Powell River RCMP agreed to assist using a vessel. While en route, Quadra officers advised the Powell River detachment they had located the boat, along with two suspects, and were escorting them to dock at Manson Landing on Cortes Island.
The boat has been recovered, and the two suspects were arrested. They are being charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. The two suspects were transported to Campbell River and were handed over to Campbell River RCMP.
