The annual BIA Big Truck Parade at the end of November will kick off a weekend filled with shopping excitement and festive holiday celebrations.
The three-day event now called "CAMPBELL RIVER INVITES YOU ... To Deck the Downtown!" will showcase the popular tradition of the big truck parade on Friday, Nov. 29.
This will be followed by a shopping extravaganza on Saturday, Nov. 30, and will end with a pancake breakfast at the Eagles Hall on Sunday, Dec. 1.
"People have been coming to the parade since 2009 when I first started the truck parade," said Jan Wade, Campbell River Downtown BIA executive director.
"People who were kids at the time are now adults. People are bringing their grandkids, and their children to it."

Following the parade, Tyee Plaza will showcase ten magnificent trucks, and the tree lighting ceremony will create a holiday atmosphere for the evening. These are just a few of the festivities scheduled for the night.
This year, the weekend-long event also coincides with Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, which encourages people to shop locally, Wade said.
On Saturday, there will be a shopping extravaganza with a Christmas Market in Spirit Square, accompanied by melodies of roaming carollers and store windows along Shoppers Row painted in the Twelve Days of Christmas theme, along with other shopping options.
To end the weekend, a pancake breakfast at the Eagles Hall and a Global Fair Trade Market at the Campbell River Community Centre will take place on Sunday.
"We're inviting the Island and the Mainland to come to Campbell River for the weekend," Wade said.
