Police are reminding drivers to be careful when making turns across the Inland Island Highway after a multi-vehicle collission on Wednesday.

Campbell River RCMP responded to the incident at approximately 9 a.m. on July 31. A Ford F350 pickup towing a boat trailer had been heading Northbound on the Inland Island Highway when it struck a minivan turning eastbound onto Jubilee Parkway from the Southbound turn lane of the Inland Island Highway.

The driver of the minivan was transported to hospital by BC Ambulance Service and was released from hospital later in the day.

Alcohol and excessive speed are not considered to be a factor in the collision.

“It is very fortunate that nobody was seriously injured in this collision,” RCMP spokesperson Const. Maury Tyre said in a press release. “It’s extremely important, when individuals prepare to make turns across the highway that they ensure they have the time and distance to make it safely across both lanes of oncoming traffic.”
