The annual 100+ Women Who Care Campbell River event will be held on Nov. 7 at the Anchor Inn & Suites, where members will select non-profits to support with donations.
In 2023, the organization successfully allocated donations of $4,475 each to the Campbell River Food Bank and Campbell River Hospice Society states an Oct. 28 media release. Members’ votes determined the recipients, recognizing the urgent needs and vital work of these organizations.
The Hospice Society faces an unprecedented 81 per cent increase in support requests, largely driven by pandemic related trauma, overdose and suicide, reads the release. Their donation supported critical training and programming, particularly for children and youth coping with traumatic loss. The Food Bank used its donation to purchase fresh food for the increasing number of under-resourced community members, reads the release. This allocation addresses the 80 per cent rise in national food bank usage since 2019.

The Nov. 7 event, which starts at 5 p.m, will, for the first time, allow members to invite a guest to join them. Member’s voting results will be revealed and nominees will share their inspiring non-profit stories in a casual mix and mingle. Member door prizes will also be drawn.
The philanthropic organization consists of women who share a common goal: to support local nonprofits and make a positive impact in our community.
By combining resources, members have raised $70,850 since 2018, with 100 per cent of every dollar directly benefiting local nonprofits, reads the release. As the community of compassionate women continues to expand, the organization is inviting others to join forces with like-minded women to drive meaningful change and amplify impact in the community.
