There are still tickets available to catch the most intimate of classical music-making at the Quadra Island Festival of Chamber Music.
The festival is brings the magic of world-class chamber music to Quadra Island from July 8-12 at various venues on the island. There is something for everyone, and although some evenings are already sold out, there are some tickets still available, so do not miss out on this fantastic opportunity to experience this classic style of music.
Chamber music was first experienced during the Middle ages where it was often played in the palace chamber! It normally consists of a small group of musicians playing acoustic classical music. One of the most famous chamber musicians was Mozart, although Joseph Haydn is considered the father of chamber music.
Chamber music is like having a beautiful conversation. All of the greatest composers created this music for groups ranging in size from duets on up to 13 people. Among the most famous musical works are the Borodin String Quartet no. 2 and the Brahms Trio for clarinet, piano, and cello - both works of which will be performed at the Quadra Island Community Centre on Friday July 12 at 7 p.m.
The 12th Annual Quadra Island Festival of Chamber Music will again bring music for the whole community. There will be a family concert at the Quadra Island Community Centre at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 11. The concert is by donation so is a great opportunity to bring your children to be inspired by this delightful music! For more information go to: https://www.quadrafestival.ca/event/family-concert/
