The father of artist Jesse Toso gave his son’s spider carving a touch-up Monday morning in downtown Campbell River.
Jim Toso said, “We’re going to clean and resurface the spider so it lasts a few more years. It’s doing pretty good but it’s getting dirty and needs a cleaning so might as well put a coat of varnish on it.”
The carving was created during the 2011 Transformations on the Shore carving competition which is held annually every summer in Campbell River. A creative space was found for the carving on a blank wall beside the community’s performing arts theatre, the Tidemark. It has proven to be a popular landmark but being a wooden carving, it needs some TLC every so often.
