Tour the fish farms

Take a nice sea tour, enjoy lunch and find out what fish farming is all about in the waters near Campbell River

Have you ever seen a salmon farm up close?

The BC Salmon Farmers Association host weekly tours which run each Thursday until mid-September.

“We always get a great response to the tours,” said David Minato of the association.

The association and its members started the tours as a way to provide more information to the general public about their operations.  It’s been growing in popularity with each year.

“I find many people are surprised that we do tours, but we want people to be able to see our operations and get a better understanding of what salmon farmers do.” said Minato.

Tours depart from Discovery Launch Water Taxis in Campbell River at 9 a.m. and last about four hours. The boat ride takes visitors through the Seymour Narrows – offering beautiful scenery and the chance to see marine wildlife.

Tours include lunch and cost $50. To reserve a spot, call Minato at 250-286-1636, extension 224.
