Members of the River Runners put their endurance to the test in last year’s Miracle Beach Run.

Following the success of its beginner running clinic in September the River Runners Running club in conjunction with the Recreation and Culture Department are offering a 15K Running Clinic.

The clinic will train participants to run the Merville 15k on April 7 which is hosted by the River Runners. This race is part of the Frontrunners Island race series, which starts January 13.

There are eight races in the series ranging from 5K to the half marathon distance (www.vira.bc.ca/).

The clinic starts on January 26 for 10 weeks.  There will be talks by fitness and health professionals on a number of topics like stretching, nutrition, sleep and footwear.  After the information session the group will head out for a run.

Participants will receive a training programme based on their current experience.

There will be three different levels:  beginner – able to run 5k at present; intermediate – able to run 10k; and advanced – already can run 15k and is looking to improve on speed.

The clinic cost is $40. Register through parks and recreation at either the Sportsplex or the Community Centre.  For more information call Linda at 250-923-7911 or e-mail crriverrunners@gmail.com
