Looking for fun, family-friendly and free activities to do on Family Day?

Strathcona Gardens is offering free swimming and skating, along with fun activities and events for all ages this coming Family Day, Monday, Feb. 12.

“We are so happy to be able to partner with the Province of BC and offer an all-ages, free event to help residents celebrate Family Day,” says Strathcona Regional District Chair Michele Babchuk. “Getting out and enjoying some free swimming and skating is a perfect way to spend the day with the family. Make sure to check out some of the other Family Day events being hosted throughout the region.”

Strathcona Gardens is offering free swimming from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with two lanes available between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Free skating, including free skate rentals, will be running from 1-4 p.m.

“In the aquatic area, we will be running family-friendly fun events from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. including the wiggle bridge, relays and a tug-o-war. The whirlpool and slide will also be available,” says Koreen Gurak, Strathcona Gardens Facility Manager. “On the ice, we will be running an everyone welcome skate, pond hockey and ice games from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Skate rentals will be free as well, but don’t forget to bring your own helmet.”

All of the events are free and open to the public. The Strathcona Regional District would like to thank the Province of BC who provided funding for this event.
