A page from the Carihi yearbook shows the cheerleading team in fine form. Carihi alumni are planning a big 50th anniversary reunion for the school in 2016.

Carihi is turning 50

Carihi Secondary School at 4th and Dogwood officially opened in January of 1966

Carihi will be turning fifty in 2016 and they’re gearing up for a big celebration in the spring of that year.

Carihi Secondary School at 4th and Dogwood officially opened in January of 1966 with John Young as the first principal. To celebrate the anniversary, reunion organizers hope to gather many stories, photos and memorabilia to mark this momentous occasion. There will be a meeting in the school library at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12 to initiate the planning.  If you are a former student or staff member and have nostalgic items or stories that you would like to share, please feel welcome to attend.  They would also welcome help in planning the event.

The date of the anniversary party has yet to be set but there will be numerous articles in the Campbell River Mirror throughout the year to keep you informed. The anniversary party will be a grand alumni reunion to celebrate five decades of Carihi history. For more information contact:  Laurel Lahay 250-923-6476
