Dear editor,
The local Conservative candidate in our upcoming federal election has proudly circulated a letter of support, written on provincial legislature letterhead, signed by a dozen or so present or former elected officials in our area.
At first and any subsequent glance, any reasonable person would see this as grossly inappropriate, implying as it does that this candidate somehow has the endorsement of the provincial government.
I have to wonder at the judgment and values of the many prominent individuals who found this to be a proper vehicle for such an endorsement and further that they attempted to use their existing and former offices to promote their personal opinions in this manner. I believe it further suggests the judgment of the candidate is equally impaired if he believes this is proper.
The weak apology of MLA Anna Kindy speaks more of seeking forgiveness when she realizes permission would never have been granted.
