Remember to mark your calendars for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 when the Altrusa Club of Campbell River is once again presenting its annual sing along movie event.

The club is delighted to return to the Tidemark Theater this year to show one of the greatest musicals of all time, The Wizard of Oz. Tickets are STILL only $20 (plus tax and applicable fees) and are available at the theater box office or online @tidemarktheatre.com.  The MC for the event will be none other than Campbell River’s own Shoo Shoo the Clown of Imagination Unlimited. You can call her at 250-923-0763 if you’re looking for some great costumes, which are encouraged, but not mandatory. There will be a costume contest with fabulous prizes!

Get ready for an enchanting evening of music and fun with Dorothy and her friends...not to mention the Wicked Witch of the East and the Wizard himself! It will be an evening of sing along fun, featuring such tunes as “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and “We’re Off To See The Wizard”.

This event is a fundraiser for the Altrusa Club, a small group of dynamic, local women committed to helping others in our community with enthusiasm and wonderful camaraderie.  Among our many projects are swag making at Christmas time, the Golden Girls Tea in the spring, upgrading the garden patio at the Seth Norton building, and our annual sing-along movie. Even though many of their projects have a serious purpose you would never know that by the laughter and joking. This dedicated group of women work together in providing children’s books for various groups, trauma bears for Victims Services, comfort bags for Anne Elmore House, backpacks for the school supplies along with reading books for the Women’s Centre, and helping many other community groups.

So tap your ruby slippers together and come out on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. to support the Altrusa Club of Campbell River community projects.
