Rivercity Players invites you to enjoy a good laugh at their season opener, “Who’s on First?”

This play is described as a nightmare comedy by its playwright, Jack Sharkey.

In the play, Camille (Christina Peterson) is giving a party.  Don (Matt Storie) shows up, jealous because he believes his wife, Alice (Desiree Greaves), is seeing another man. When she arrives with the other man, Ben (Andy Peterson), it turns out it was all a mistake. But by the time Don figures this out, shots have been fired. Camille wishes that everything might have turned out differently – and so it does. Everyone finds themselves back at the beginning of the evening . . . again and again and again . . . as gangsters or British aristocrats or . . . well, you’ll have to go and see for yourself.

The production is directed by Gail Tisdale, who has been enjoying seeing the play come together, and working with a great cast as they frequently end up “laughing ourselves silly.” The production is moving smoothly, even with the challenge of finding five to six eclectic costumes for each actor.

She expects the audience to be highly entertained, and invites everyone to “come and have a great time with lots of fun and laughter.”

The play, suitable for all ages, opens Oct. 22 and runs through Nov. 7 with a matinee on Nov. 1 and 2.  The shows start at 7:30 p.m., with the matinees starting at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available at Impressions Gallery, Campbell River Laundromat, and the Rivercity Stage (Wednesdays 12:00 to 2:00) for $20. They are also available online at rivercityplayers.ca for $22.

If you would like a preview of what you are in for, a scene from the play will be part of the club’s Evening of One Acts, Sept. 25 and 26.  Two one act plays, Day Trippers and Chocolate, will also be performed.

Admission is by donation at Rivercity Stage, and the performances start at 7:30 p.m.
