Campbell River music teacher Cindy Taylor has been elected president of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers.

Campbell River music teacher Cindy Taylor was elected the President of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers this past July.

During her two-year term in this position, Taylor will continue to occupy a post with the BC Federation of Music Teachers for her second term.

“Cindy has devoted herself to the Provincial organization for a total of fourteen years, serving on various executive positions as well as Chairing several committees,” fellow music instructor Sonia Hauser said. “During this time she also served at the National level.”

On the local level, Taylor has offered her time and abilities to the North Island Branch.

Despite these many responsibilities, she maintains a music studio here in Campbell River as well as teaching at ‘Motif’ in Courtney.

Taylor’s students range from beginners to those working at the grade 11 level (ARCT).

Several of her students have competed by invitation at the Provincial level as well as pursuing professional music careers.

To add to her already busy life, Cindy also teaches Theory and Pedagogy. She has been active in the local Music Community for over thirty years.

“Family, Colleagues and Friends are also very important to Cindy,” said Hauser. “All of us are very proud of her dedication and achievements.”
