Stillwater Books and Art relaunches itself with a new concept, new edge

Changes that have come about in the book industry and current marketing patterns

Changes that have come about in the book industry and current marketing patterns have led to the launch of a new style Still Water Books and Art, beginning with a once-a-month event at a local restaurant.

On Friday, from 4-9 pm. an exciting evening of theatre, readings and art viewing will be held at Uptown Willie’s (across the street from the Community Centre on 11th). Don’t miss The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) (revised) presented by the award-winning Carihi Theatrical Performers at 7 pm. followed by a short improv performance. A reading of her new Amazon-published novel by Mary-Ellen Lang Collura, a successful local author, will follow.

The final reading will feature Bob David. He is a retired school superintendent, most famous for his handling of the James Keegstra affair.  This episode is covered in one chapter of A Rich and Full Life, a memoir.  He was also the superintendent in Gold River when a child was attacked by a cougar. While these are educational stories, they will touch the heartstrings of listeners.

Wonderful new hand-made cards by Natalie Martin will be available. There will be a door prize worth acquiring, and great food. A selection of interesting books will be presented for sale and new pieces of art to view and purchase. There will be a $5 cover charge refundable on a book purchase.
