Theatre enthusiasts with Shoreline Musical Theatre Society are back in action this November at the Tidemark Theatre.
The cast and crew, made up entirely of dedicated and talented volunteers, will present Disney's Beauty and the Beast, the Broadway musical.
Shoreline Musical Theatre broad member Orsi Foldesi, who is serving as the stage manager in this production, urged people to come out and enjoy the show. Seeing a musical is a great activity as the weather gets colder in Campbell River, she said.
"There is a lot of humour in the show, a little more than in the cartoon," Foldesi said. "Since it is volunteer-based based, it is an opportunity for people to do something healthy, both for adults and children, who can work together on something creative."
Beauty and the Beast will be staged three times on Nov. 21, 22, and 23 at 7:30 p.m., along with a matinee on Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
"We have so much talent in this town," Foldesi continued. "You won't feel like this is an amateur company. It could totally fly in Victoria or anywhere else. There are really good quality singers. Some of them went off and are now in Theatre school in Vancouver."
Creative pursuits, like musical theatre, foster confidence and improve public speaking skills for both adults and children, she said, adding the actors in this production are of all ages.
"This is just a great way to spend fall evenings in Campbell River, and the show is very entertaining," she said.
