Students at Timberline and Carihi can seem a little more poetic these days after being treated to a creative workshop with a poet.

Jess Housty, an award-winning poet from Bella Bella, was at the schools on March 7 to deliver a presentation and a creative workshop.

"I just did a presentation and Q and A to several high school classes about my collection of poetry, Crushed Wild Mint. I got to talk a little bit about my writing practice, how I live in my community and what the story is behind my writing," Housty said.

Housty published Crushed Wild Mint in 2023, winning 2024's Bull Duthie Booksellers' Choice Award and the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize.
