Papermaking for teens and adults

So many adults were interested, it’s been expanded to include anyone age 13 and up

The Campbell River Art Gallery is offering an introductory workshop into the diverse world of papermaking this month.

The class, taught by local artist Nicola Cooper, was originally designed for teens, but so many adults were interested, it’s been expanded to include anyone age 13 and up.

The classes take place Wednesdays, Nov. 13 and 20 from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Through demonstrations and practice, participants will learn everything from preparing coloured pulp, to molding and embossing. Students will also explore the practical uses of paper in collage, art cards and three-dimensional design.

Cooper is well-known for her vibrant textural prints and collages. She has taught workshops across Canada and in Thailand and the United Kingdom.

The cost for the workshop is $45 for members of the Campbell River Art Gallery and $55 for non-members.
