In Guide to Blind Channel, Phil Richter says: “The visitor to the area today, might find it difficult to imagine the activity which existed here within less than one lifetime.”

This statement is true of much of the Discovery Islands region, an area rich in history.

The Museum at Campbell River is continuing their fascinating historic boat cruise series every Sunday in August. Trips include visits to Hardwicke and Yorke Island (famous as a defense post during WWII) on Aug. 3, the Thurlow Islands (Aug. 10 and 24 with lunch at Blind Channel – pictured, left) and Desolation Sound (Aug. 17 and 31).

For more details visit www.crmuseum.ca. The Museum is offering these Historic Cruises in partnership with Discovery Marine Safaris.

Prices range from $135 to $150. Seating is limited.
