The public is invited to a special reception at the Campbell River Art Gallery Thursday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. to meet the current exhibiting artists Edith Krause, Doris Auxier and Bob McLeod.
Krause and Auxier have created Lament of the Butterflies, co-sponsored by McVeigh Contracting and John and Bania Chan. Auxier’s installation entitled Mausoleum: Red List Lament consists of piano player scrolls suspended from the ceiling with paintings of red list plants hung amidst them, while Krause’s multi-media works called The Butterfly Effect, layer screen-printed maps of invasive species and digital photographs of butterfly wings to create beautiful and disturbing images.
Vestiges, by Bob McLeod, is an exhibition of multi-media sculptures, created with glass and metal.
The exhibition, sponsored by Gary and Pam Dobbs, is inspired by cast-off parts found along our shores and in the trash.
McLeod transforms these abandoned pieces into sculpture by blowing glass through the metal forms. Both visitors and locals have been enjoying these timely and fascinating exhibitions.
