Quadra Island artists and craftspeople will open their studios and workshops for the 13th Annual Studio Tour June 6-7 to show their new work.

This premier event features an extraordinary and eclectic range of talents from world-class fine arts to highly collectable crafts.

Quadra Island is renowned for its friendly community of artistic personalities, who generously open their workspaces and share their knowledge with the public. From sculptors to potters, every studio provides a unique opportunity to experience the island’s diverse creativity.

Tour the studio workshop of Kevin Mackenzie, whose unique metal art and furniture are inspired by west coast landscape and wildlife. William Van Orden has developed a unique technique for creating extremely accurate renditions of sea life. His quest is to create a permanent, three-dimensional record of every fish found along the Pacific coast. At the north end of the island, savour homemade ice cream while sculptor Lee Gass demonstrates his techniques of rock carving with hand tools.

Explore more than 20 other working studios nestled amongst the natural beauty of Quadra Island. Enjoy meeting and chatting with the many artists and craftspeople on the tour. Watch in-studio demonstrations and visit the many displays at the Community Centre where you can also view a “sampler” group exhibition, win door prizes, have a delicious lunch at Chef Mariana’s “A’Muse Eats”, and place a bid in the Silent Auction on one of the three beautiful pieces created and generously donated by John Schevers.

Tickets are $5 per person (kids under 12 are free) and are available from: the Info Centre, Hummingbird, and most resorts on Quadra; from the Campbell River Art Gallery, Info Centre and Impressions in Campbell River; and from the Comox Valley Art Gallery in Courtenay.
