Fans of local art are flocking to take in the 32nd Annual Members’ Exhibition at the Campbell River Art Gallery – featuring nearly 70 artists and a myriad artistic styles.

The exhibition, co-presented by the CR Art Gallery and the CR Arts Council, closes on Friday, so now is your last chance to catch the show sponsored by CR Lawyers – Shook, Wickham, Bishop and Field. The opening night attracted more than 150 people, who gathered to see the jurors and local dignitaries present this year’s awards.

Awards of Excellence went to Pavel Barta for his work ‘Walking’ and to Ruth MacLaurin for her piece ‘Earth Without Borders.’ The two Award of Excellence winners were presented with generous prizes from Impressions Custom Framing and Pier Street Gallery. Awards of Merit were presented to Luise Grav (‘Meanwhile, Back at the Barn’), Janis Guthy (‘Hard at Work’), Judy Hilgemann (‘The Painted Piano’), Martina Kowalchuk (‘Extinction Fish’), Christina Munck (‘Truchas, New Mexico’) and Perrin Sparks (‘Mathilde’s Prose’).

Honourable Mentions went to Kathryn Botsford (‘Secrets Within’), Jeff Hartbower (‘Chemo’), Tina Johansen (‘Untitled’), Kerry Kowalchuk (‘Natural edge poplar bowl’), Marcy Prior (‘Bewicks Wren) and Carol Seeley (‘First Passage’).
