It's a light weekend for Hollywood releases – the three films above, although promising via their previews, don't exactly scream blockbuster. That's just fine, really. We don't always need to see Iron Man saving humanity or DiCaprio freezing in the water (Titanic) to justify spending two hours or so in front of the big screen.

But this upcoming Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend brings little of the flair or Fincher-ness you have come to expect will define every Friday-to-Tuesday period.

That's because they're already out. On DVD and available for streaming are a slew of summer earners, from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Godzilla, The Fault in Our Stars, and Neighbors.

Gone Girl

David Fincher's Gone Girl – starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, in a film based off Gillian Flynn's novel – has racked up $37.5 million so far and has been universally acclaimed, at least to the point any film can be.

It has an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been considerably less polarizing than The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which is the last Fincher film based off a bestselling book. (And we're still waiting for the sequels by the way, Finch.)

Something I noticed in the trailer below – the preview has the same creepy musical touch of one of the director's many modern classics, 2010's The Social Network (which was actually based off a book as well, The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich).
