Party on Quadra Saturday night with the Motown sounds of Luv Train.

On this Saturday Dec. 6 the 8 p.m. the Quadra Island Legion will be celebrating 50 years of Motown as well as local Realtor Heidi Ridgway’s 50th Birthday!

She grew up to the sounds of Motown and has danced all her life. She is currently choreographing a children’s play on Quadra.

So for the big 50, she searched the Island for a band to bring the Funk to the dance floor. She scored big when she discovered Luv Train.

DJ NoEgo will also be spinning some reggae and dance classics to keep the dance floor hopping. There will be prizes for best “Motown” costume.

So think 1960-1970’s styles but feel free to come as you are.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.  Tickets available at the Music Plant in Campbell River and Inspirations on Quadra or Call Heidi 250 -202-2217 for more info or to volunteer.

Luv Train comes in like a runaway  train  serving up high energy blues as well as R&B and  Motown sounds of the 60’s. A highly  entertaining style , gutsy vocals , brilliant harmonies with Grooves 2 Good 2 Loose.

The  southern Vancouver Island  band was  formed in 2008 by  Larry and Virginia Blatchford, when they met Ryk Ryce at One Human Family Gospel Choir.

Ryce was recovering from a deadly bout of spinal meningitis and Blatchford was suffering with Kidney failure.

Knowing music is a healer, they decided to play all the songs they had always loved.

Currently they are one of few bands chosen to host the legendary   ‘Sunday Blues Jam at the Queens in Nanaimo’.

They have participated in many festival, concerts ,and  special events over the years bringing fun, polished music to an enthusiastic audience and  dance floor.   www.luvtrain.ca”
