Every two years a remarkable festival of choirs, the International Choral Kathaumixw, takes place in Powell River.
And every two years Campbell River fans of vocal music benefit from a visit from one of the top notch participating choirs. This year it will be a male youth choir, the Birralee Blokes, which hails from Brisbane, Australia.
The Birralee Blokes is a dynamic ensemble of young men aged 13-22 whose love for singing and communicating good music has captivated audiences around Australia. A highlight of their musical journey was their win in the national ABC Classic FM Choral Competition in 2006 where they were named Youth Choir of the Year and awarded the Listener’s Choice Award.
Island Voices Chamber Choir, the local host for this fine young choir, is proud to able to showcase them in a performance on Sunday, July 8 at 8 p.m. at the Campbell River United Church.
Tickets, $10, will be available at the Campbell River Visitors Centre as well as at the door.
