The competition is heating up for the second annual Dancing with the Stars.
More local celebrities are putting on their dancing shoes to benefit the CR Perinatal Society’s New Dawn House.
On Saturday at the Eagle’s Hall the competition will be fierce, and the entertainment unprecedented.
For $40 guests will be treated to a full night of fun; including dancing with the local band, Reunion, appies and a “show” that includes a great panel of judges, local stars coupled with professional dance instructors to give it their all for a cause.
The way the benefit works is, if you want to vote for your favourite star, it will cost you money: $5 for one vote, 10 for $15 and $15 for 50. If you can’t make the actual show, you can still pledge towards your favourites through the New Dawn website, or directly to your celebrity of choice. Tickets are available at Stereo Fitness, Chameleon Hair Lounge and Trends and Friends.

Jan Tees is a Kootenay girl, born and raised in Nelson, but her favourite place now is enjoying her view from her Campbell River home.
Tees works tirelessly for the downtown merchants society. She was instrumental in getting the street piano up and playing, the big truck parade and Starlight shopping in December, and Easter festivities in the spring – amongst many other things. But her claim to Campbell River fame was inviting Rick Mercer to our city to swim with the salmon. She loves dancing, and remembers watching her parents dance around their living room when she was a child.
Last year she was asked to participate as a judge, but was unable to attend – so watch out competitors, sounds like Tees might have some secret “behind the scenes” knowledge of what we’re looking for!
Jody Wright was born in Prince George, but spent most of his formative years here in Campbell River.
He and his wife left for a small time, but in 2010 brought their twin boys back to Campbell River to enjoy this amazing lifestyle.
He is an avid hockey player, a member of the notorious “Terror” men’s hockey team. His family has been confused lately as Wright has changed the channel from hockey to So You Think You Can Dance? so dad can pick up a few tricks.
Wright is now the general manager for Broadstreet Properties – sister company to Seymour Pacific, and is very proud to represent his company this year. His dancing career started at the Pheonix Middle School dances, and blossomed into weddings and anniversary parties. He even wowed his own wedding guests with a spontaneous re enactment of Footloose.
