Ashley WIlson and Sofia Langhans are keyed uup for Canada Music Week wich kics off Sunday with a concert at the United Church at 2:30 p.m.

Canada Music Week (CMW) is a National program organized by the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers Association to support composers and performers of Canadian Music.

All across Canada music students are celebrating CMW in concerts and other musical events during this week in November, the date specifically chosen because it includes Saint Cecilia Day – the patron saint of Music.

On Sunday at 2:30 p.m. the United Church at 415 Pinecrest Road is the place to be to hear a student concert sponsored by the local North Island Registered Music Teachers’ Association. All of the performers in the concert will be playing compositions written by Canadian Composers.

Some of those composers are local classical guitar students of Helga Hagen who have written their own music and will be eagerly sharing their creations with the audience.

The Canada Music Week celebrations will also include many solo compositions and various combinations of ensemble music, featuring piano duets and trios; a composition for violin and piano; cello and piano; and also an exuberant French Canadian folksong on the fiddle.

Admission at the door for the concert is $3 per person or $5 per family.
