B.C. artist Gaye Adams will be head juror at the 30th Anniversary Members’ Exhibition and will also teach a two-day painting workshop while she’s in the community, the Campbell River Art Gallery announced.
Daily Painting with Gaye Adams’ will take place on Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18.
During this two-day workshop, students will set up and light their own still life arrangements.
The days will each start with a demonstration and lecture followed by one-on-one coaching for each student.
Adams, a resident of Sorrento, B.C., holds senior signature status with the Federation of Canadian Artists and has received awards at the international level.
She has received her Master Pastellist designation from the Pastel Artists of Canada and is a member of the Oil Painters of America. The cost for the two day workshop, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is $255 for members of the Campbell River Art Gallery and $265 for non-members (HST included).
The 30th Annual Members’ Exhibition, presented by the Campbell River Art Gallery and the Campbell River Arts Council, opens at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16 and will run until April 27. The extra-special exhibition, sponsored by CR Lawyers Shook, Wickham, Bishop and Field, will feature work by up to 80 regional artists.
The exhibition is the gallery’s most popular every year, with up to 150 people traditionally attending the opening night, and more than 3,000 visiting the exhibition during its run.
The opening night will also feature the launch of a full-colour 30th anniversary book.
Proceeds from the book, which will honour the memory of Doris Ritchie, a longtime pillar of our arts community, will go towards new exhibition lighting.
Adams will lead a three-person jury which will select the award-winners at the Members’ Exhibition. The public is welcome to attend the opening, and find out who the winners are, Friday, March 16 starting at 7 p.m.
