Transformations on the Shore, a home-grown chainsaw carving event in Campbell River, is back again for its 29th year from June 25 to 29.
This year, the Campbell River Shoreline Arts Society will be hosting twelve carvers who will create magic by transforming a giant cedar log into an astounding piece of art. Twelve logs will become twelve very different magical creations and will remain in Frank James Park throughout the summer, according a June 4 media release.
Carvers this year include returnees Dan Richey, Brigitte Lochhead, Jesse Toso, Steve Ordano/Alisdair McLeod, Clinton Bleaney, Ben Hemara, Volker Steigemann, Tao Feng, Max Chickite, Ernest Puglas and welcome to newcomers, Dave McKamey and Tyler Welfing.
There will be a 50/50 draw on the Sunday at 2 p.m. with $5 tickets available throughout the week at Frank James Park in Willow Point. The more tickets sold, the bigger the prize so come out and show your support. The Shoreline Arts share of the draw will help to ensure this popular local event will continue next year.
Shoreline Arts will be holding an auction of some of the carvers smaller creations and maybe one, or more (to be decided), of the large ones on Sunday, June 29 after the carving stops at noon.
"Show your support, bring your wallet, there will be some great carvings to be had. Back by popular demand will be a People’s Choice award, so don’t forget to vote for your favourite," says Shoreline Arts.
In the media release, Shoreline Arts said it thanks all the local businesses, hotels, restaurants, and private citizens and our wonderful volunteers, without whose support there would be no carving. As always, Shoreline Arts is looking for like-minded people to join us in the organization of this great event.
