Campbell River, get outside and paint

Learn the best professional ‘plein air’ techniques in a stimulating workshop

Do you yearn to paint in the great outdoors?

Professional artists Glenn Clark and Peter Corbett, who have an upcoming exhibition at the Campbell River Art Gallery, will be teaching a weekend workshop March 8 and 9 focusing on painting outside.

Learn the best professional ‘plein air’ techniques in this stimulating workshop. Plein air means outside, and for many artists, working outside is enticing, but daunting too. The workshop will take place both in and out of doors and will give artists all the information necessary to paint outside. The course will focus on equipment and supplies as well as the key elements of composition to create effective and interesting work. Clark and Corbett will also feature hands-on planning and decision-making, preparing attendees for the outdoor component of the workshop as participants face the challenges of working on location.

En Plein Air (in the open air) with Glenn Clark and Peter Corbett runs Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. each day. The cost is $295 plus GST for CR Art Gallery members and $305 plus GST for non-members.

Clark and Corbett’s exhibition, Abandoning Paradise, sponsored by Mothership Adventures, will be at the CR Art Gallery’s Discovery Gallery from March 6 to April 18, and will feature small paintings documenting the wild area proposed for the Northern Gateway Pipeline Project.  The two artists will be in Campbell River for the exhibition opening and the Gallery is delighted that they will be able to offer this exciting workshop.
