This Easter season will once again see Brian Down on stage presenting his one-man-show Pesach.

Down has done a number of solo projects over the years but this is the one that has been performed most widely. It has been several years since he has presented Pesach in Campbell River and this latest work will have some new elements.

Pesach tells the back story to the Passion Week. It highlights the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ all within the context of the Jewish celebration of Passover. In fact many believe the Passover Festival was designed by God to prepare Israel for the coming Messiah. Passover commemorates the Exodus from Egypt and the miracles performed by God.

Not only does the Passion Week fall at a key time in the Jewish calendar, it is also a precarious time in the Roman Empire. Pilate, the military governor, who’s loyalty to Caesar may already be in question, can ill afford to have someone in his jurisdiction claiming to be a King of the Jews. Religious tradition, political intrigue, and personal struggles of various characters are the fabric on the which the story of Pesach is told. Pesach will be performed on Sunday, April 20 at 7 p.m. at the Campbell River Baptist Church. Admission is free.
