It’s showtime again for the Campbell River Dog Fanciers Society's annual Canadian Kennel Club Conformation shows and Rally Obedience Trials.

Come on out and cheer on your favorite breed or watch the competitors in the rally ring work together with their dog to qualify for a pass towards their titles.

The show runs Saturday to Monday at Nunns Creek Park. Events begin at 9 a.m. daily, with the final awards of Best in Show happening at approximately 3:30 p.m. each day.

Special events include a conformation as well as a rally match on Saturday night, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

There are even classes offered at the conformation match for “altered” dogs, which is any dog that has been spayed or neutered. Registration for the matches opens at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Sunday at lunch break you can come and watch the future “up and coming” dog handlers as the Junior Handling competition. Also taking place at noon on Sunday is the Yearling Sweepstakes, which features dogs 6-18 months of age.

The club is super excited this year as this marks the very first time they’ve held a “Dog Olympics.” It takes place Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

This is a free event for any child up to 16 years of age and their dog. Mixed breeds as well as purebreds are welcome to enter.

Families are invited to come out and watch their kids and dogs take part in such fun events as hurdles, relay, Frisbee catch, diving for hotdogs in water, an obstacle course and many other classes. Fun prizes will be provided and kids can enter as many events as they wish.
