Volunteer society celebrates 25th anniversary

They are now a vibrant community agency supporting non-profit organizations and volunteer programs

The Campbell River Volunteer Society will hold their AGM and 25th Anniversary celebration at the Campbell River Museum on Monday, June 22.

In 1988, an initiative by the Committee for the Promotion of Healthy Aging identified a need for a Volunteer Centre in Campbell River.

The first Board of Directors was formed in 1989 and the Centre became a society on July 10, 1990.

They are now a vibrant community agency supporting non-profit organizations and volunteer programs in Campbell River and surrounding areas.

The AGM and 25th Anniversary event will start off with networking and appetizers at 5 p.m. followed by the AGM at 6 p.m.

They will then have the opportunity to hear a member organization presentation, by Tara Jordan of the John Howard Society Kidstart Program, and enjoy a 25th anniversary cake from Thrifty Foods to round out the event.

Past, current and future members invited. Come on out, share your stories from past years, look at the anniversary collage boards, network with other non-profits, take part in the silent auction, purchase a BOGO card at half price for only $10, enjoy some appetizers, drinks and cake, and support the Campbell River Volunteer Society.

The AGM will consist of voting in new board members, a financial review, and last year’s highlights. There will also be a members vote on 2016-2017 membership fees.

They would also like to thank Campbell River for the great efforts demonstrated every year to support volunteerism. For more information on volunteering or to partner with the Volunteer Society to strengthen our community, contact 250-287-8111 or emailmail@volunteercr.ca.
