Students and staff from École Mer-et-montagne celebrated the French British Columbian flag recently.
For the occasion, they invited the Francophones and Francophiles of Campbell River to gather at City Hall last week, on Sept. 24.
A ceremony, attended by more than 150 members of the community, was held to commemorate the day during which the flag was first raised. The students sang an anthem to the flag as well as their school song.
Principal Syndie Hébert said it was the first time the francophone flag ever flew over the City of Campbell River but she hopes it won’t be the last. Hébert said she would like to do a similar event next year.
