The Community Centre is offering sewing classes starting next week.

With the colder weather, fall is a great time to get cozy inside and introduce kids to the craft of sewing.

Sign up soon for sewing classes for youth nine years and up and stitch together fun and useful projects like media covers and messenger bags.

On Thursday, Nov. 1 (the next Pro D Day for students in School District 72), students will learn to sew a cool cover for an iPhone, iPod or camera between. The class runs from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m and costs $18. Students purchase their own favorite fabric or choose from our selection.

On Fridays, Nov. 2 through 16, students will learn to make a designer messenger bag. The lined, fully interfaced bag with flap and inside pocket will be great to use as a purse or to carry school work. Classes run from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost for six hours is $56.

The Learn to Sew Series is taught by Sylvia Dutch at the Community Centre. Instruction, sewing machines, patterns and sewing notions are provided. A handout is available upon registration that outlines items the student may need to purchase.

For more information regarding classes, please call the Community Centre, 250-286-1161, or Sportsplex, 250-923-7911.
