Senior volunteer men and women needed

The focus is on providing short term emotional support to older adults who may be dealing with many problems

The Campbell River Senior Peer Counselling Program is seeking senior men and women aged 55+ to train as Senior Peer Support Volunteers.

This program has been in existence since 2007, providing free, quality peer support to men and women 55+ by trained volunteers. The focus is on providing short term emotional support to older adults who may be dealing with loss, life changes, isolation, health issues, or other problems. Senior Peer Volunteers receive comprehensive training in empathic listening and communication skills, emotional health and aging, grief and loss, as well as ongoing education regarding the wellness of older adults.

The group is excited to welcome new volunteers. A three-day free training program is required and will be held near the end of February. Any interested men or women aged 55 + can consider volunteering. For more information or to book an interview please call Jackie or Georgette at 250-287-3044 (the Women’s Centre) or email info@crwomen.ca.
