It may not feel like kayaking weather yet, but this is a great time to learn some kayaking skills in the warmth of an indoor pool.
The City of Campbell River Recreation & Culture Department, in conjunction with Kayak Unlimited, is offering a series of kayak rescue skills courses. The next session takes place on Thursday, March 22 from 8-9:30 p.m. at Strathcona Gardens.
Participants will learn how to get out of an overturned kayak and how to re-enter – with and without assistance. These are fundamental kayaking skills and a recommended precursor before taking any more kayaking courses. The course is also an ideal refresher for more experienced paddlers.
Course cost is $60 and all equipment is included. Register at either the Sportsplex or Community Centre.
