Kids crossing near Haig-Brown House

Motorists are reminded to watch for children and staff crossing Highway 19A

Motorists are reminded to watch for children and staff crossing Highway 19A by the Haig-Brown House to attend one of the community’s longest running summer camps.

The Haig-Brown Camp will once again be located at the picturesque Haig-Brown House this year, but with limited parking available, children and staff are being dropped off and picked up at the Vineyard Church across the highway at 2215 Campbell River Rd.

For safety reasons, City staff will stop traffic and escort children to the home base of the camp at Haig-Brown House. Crossing signs will be placed on either side of the road to alert motorists about pedestrians crossing in the area.

The Haig-Brown Camp focuses on the power of nature and environmental stewardship.  Participants will learn about salmon habitats and the eco system, go on field trips and explore and play in the nearby forest.  The camp runs on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8 to August 23.  For more information, or to register for the Haig-Brown Camp or any other City of Campbell River camp, please contact the Sportsplex at 250-923-7911 or the Community Centre at 250-286-1161.
