Have you noticed broom is blooming already? That means it’s time to broom bash.

Volunteers are needed to join Greenways Land Trust and Tim Horton’s in their annual attack on broom in bloom. This year the bash will be held on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Myrt Thompson Trail (off the end of Maple Street by the Quinsam Hotel). This is always a fun event, and Tim Horton’s will be on site providing coffee, water, free t-shirts and timbits for volunteers.

Volunteers should be prepared for all weather. Wear a sturdy pair of shoes and sensible clothes. Gloves and cutting equipment will be provided. Families are welcome.

The best way to keep broom under control and protect our native plants is to cut it when in bloom. For more information, call Greenways at (250) 287-3785 or email volunteer@greenwaystrust.ca
