Hospital auxiliary makes large purchases for new Campbell River hospital

$428,780 in equipment alone will be bought for the new facility

With approximately 100 dedicated volunteers donating 21964 hours in 2016/2017, the Campbell River Hospital Auxiliary continues with its mission of providing care and comfort for anyone using the Campbell River Hospital.

The Auxiliary is purchasing a digital mammography machine, defibrillator, electric bed, Broda chairs, Medfusion syringe pump and more items totaling $428,780 for the new Campbell River Hospital that is scheduled to open September 2017. In addition to the new hospital spending, in 2016/2017 the Auxiliary spent $191,549.15 on equipment, bursaries and staff education for the current hospital.

Did you know that 800 patients a month are cared for at the Sunshine Wellness Centre? The Auxiliary provides tea, coffee, juice and cookies for patients and their family using the out patient services.

The Hospital Auxiliary is 100 per cent volunteer run and has been in operation for over 60 years. Money is raised through sales at the C.R. Hospital Gift Shop and the C.R. Hospital Thrift Shop. With the community and surrounding areas shopping at their stores, they are able to continue their mission.

You can support them through your gently used clothing and household item donations. In addition, they also accept monetary donations. Donations can be made at either the Campbell River Hospital Gift Shop or Thrift Shop. Make cheques payable to C.R. Hospital Auxiliary; a tax receipt will be issued. All monies raised and donated stay in Campbell River and are used for our hospital.
