As part of Const. John Belanger’s Cops For Cancer Tour de Rock fundraising efforts, Boston Pizza is hosting “Dash The Stashe” on Monday (Aug. 17).

Belanger, this year’s Campbell River rider in the annual Tour de Rock, says he has had his instantly recognizable moustache for “about 20 years, I would say, but if I get the money to shave it off, it’ll be worth losing it for a while. I can always grow it back.”

He will shave his moustache if he receives $5,000 in donations for the Tour de Rock at Monday’s event. Chris Seeley of Campbell River Boston Pizza says he’s excited to be a part of the event again this year.

“The Tour de Rock is an exceptional community event that brings the entire island together and impacts lives in our communities,” Seeley says. “The Boston Pizza foundation was recently rebranded as ‘Future Prospects,’ and our goal of impacting youth in our community through mentorship and as role models aligns with the Tour de Rock . We want to show our support to the riders, the support teams and the volunteers that make this such an impactful event.”

Seeley says the restaurant will be donating 10 per cent of Monday’s sales to Belanger’s fundraising efforts.

Belanger and other RCMP members will also be acting as celebrity servers and hosts on Monday.

Campbell River Boston Pizza has also partnered with local bike shop Swicked Cycles and will be raffling off a Rocky Mountain Vapor Mountain Bike valued at approximately $800.

Tickets for the bike raffle are three for $5 and are available at the restaurant. The draw takes place at the gala fundraising dinner on the night of Sept. 22 when the tour comes through town.
