The effort to create a community garden will get underway at an informational meeting next Wednesday.

Community gardens can bring focus to a community.

Community Gardens are not just a place to grow fruit and vegetables.

Community Gardens can include a place for people to socialize, relax, cook together, work on art projects and a place where kids can play.

Campbellton Park on 15th Avenue has been identified as a possible location for a just such a Community Garden.

“A community garden would be a great place for people to meet, save money by growing produce and it would really enhance the neighbourhood,” said Brain Shaw, president of the Campbellton Neighbourhood Association.

If you are interested in becoming involved in a Community Garden for Campbellton or would like to get more information on community gardens and their benefits to the community, you are invited to attend a short meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 6-7 p.m. at the Campbell River Bowling Alley (16th Ave. & Petersen).
