How would you like to win a pizza party for your whole school while helping a great cause?

Calling all young writers.

How would you like to win a pizza party for your whole school while helping a great cause? Habitat for Humanity and Genworth Canada are hosting a writing contest open to Grade 4, 5, and 6 students from across Canada.

Campbell River’s Habitat for Humanity affiliate is encouraging local students to enter the contest to help contribute to next year’s build planned for Hilchey Road.

By writing on the topic of home and what it means to you, you will have a chance to be picked by celebrity judge Scott McGillivray (HGTV) from a field of entrants from across Canada. For each entry, Genworth will donate $5 to the closest Habitat affiliate to the entrant. The Grand Prize includes a $60,000 donation to a Habitat affiliate of the winner’s choice, plus a school-wide pizza party while runners up will receive a $5,000 affiliate donation and a class-wide pizza party.

There are also additional prizes for the winner and runners up.

The contest opened on October 1 and submissions can be made until Nov. 7.

Submissions, in the form of a poem, essay, or composition, are to be 50-300 words long and can be submitted through the contest website, mail or video. Visit www.meaningofhome.ca for further details and full contest rules.”
