Their motto is “People helping People” and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Campbell River lives up to its mantra.

Recently, the Campbell River Aerie presented $1,700 to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation to go towards the purchase of an infant stabilette for the Maternity Department at Campbell River Hospital.

These funds were raised over the last three years through an annual bonspiel organized by the Campbell River Aerie.

On average, 400 babies are born in the Campbell River hospital each year and an infant stabilette is present at each birth. This equipment is used to perform a baby’s first exam and health care measurements.

The stabilette also functions as a neonatal crash cart in the event there are complications after birth.

The cost of a stabilette is $25,000.

Founded in 1898, the Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization uniting fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope.
