Campbell River garden contest is now open to residents of Area D, so sign up by May 25

The May 25 deadline is fast approaching so enter the Campbell River and Area D Business and Residential Garden Contest now!

There’s still time to get your garden spruced up for the judging which will take place between June 1-15.

The local garden contest is all about fun and community involvement.  Entry is free and you have a chance at prizes donated by our wonderful local gardening and landscaping businesses: Campbell River Garden Centre, Willow’s Market, Sticks ‘n Stones, Ladybug Greenhouse, Brymik Earthworks, Renuable Resources, Serendipity in the Garden, Shar-Kare, Comox Valley Waste management and Compost Diva Solutions.

Even if you are not an award winner, you will still enjoy an evening at the awards presentation being held at the Maritime Heritage Centre on July 13 at 6:30 p.m.

Thanks to Comox Valley Waste Management and The Strathcona Regional District, Area D members are now welcome to join Campbell River and compete for the first time ever! Here are the categories to choose from:

1. Children’s & Youth Garden

2. Residential Patio

3. Residential Balcony

3. Residential Large Garden (front and/or backyard)

4. Residential Small Garden (front and/or backyard)

5. Community Garden – ½ Plot

6. Community Garden – Full Plot

7. Multi Residential Complex

8. Business Street Frontage

9. Business Property

10. Green Garden-All Entries will be judged in this separate category

Make this the year that you throw your gardening hat into the wheelbarrow. Entry forms are available at Ladybug Greenhouse, Willows Market, Sticks ‘n Stones Nursery, Campbell River Garden Centre, Sportsplex, Community Centre and the parks office.
