Recently Campbell River had a visit from a dance examiner from George, South Africa.

Christelle Smit is a dance examiner for the Association of International Dance Teachers.

She started her examining tour in Las Vegas at the begining of June, then traveled to Vancouver where she joined a second examiner, Thelma Dancig from Johannesburg, South Africa, and both examiners examined Shannon Martin a former resident of Campbell River for her to become our first Canadian AIDT examiner in the  Jazz Syllabus.

Martin has been working for several years to do her exam to become an AIDT examiner.

This entailed two full days of examining but it was all worth it because passed her exam.

After this Smitt continued to Duncan and examined the Carlson’s Studio Then to Courtenay examining for four days at Gemini Studio and Laurie Tinkler’s Studio then on to Campbell River spending three days at Kathy Mascia’s Studio examining 47 tap and jazz entries from Kathy Mascia’s Studio, and followed by a few entries from Portside Studio from Port McNeill.

Now Smit is in Victoria testing students at Westshore Dance Studios before spending time sightseeing in Canada before her return to South Africa.
