Chas Maria holds book sale April 11

They will be holding their semi-annual Used Book Sale on Saturday, April 11

First of all Chas Maria Chapter #76, Order of the Eastern Star apologizes to those people who brought books to their last book sale but whom they had to turn away.

Unfortunately, they had thousands of books and just nowhere to put them – this will not happen again.

They will be holding their semi-annual Used Book Sale on Saturday, April 11 in  Unit 1325 in Tyee Plaza – between Banners Restaurant and the old Super Valu store.

So start collecting your books and if you would like them to pick them up, phone either Margaret at 250-923-1760 or Eveline at 250-923-9203 and arrangements will be made for someone to come and collect them.

Watch for our advertisement nearer the time and we will let you know when books can be dropped off before the sale.

Meanwhile, you probably want to know why do they raise this money?

Well, Cancer is the Eastern Star charity throughout the province and, over the years,  they have raised thousands of dollars for research, free cancer dressings (which are available to any patient from the Health Unit), many types of cancer treatment equipment, medical books and scholarships for oncology doctors.

Chas Maria Chapter has purchased a special scale and a blanket warmer for the Cancer Unit in the Campbell River Regional Hospital and they financially support the Cancer Unit Library.

They supply the materials and make cancer dressings which any patient can receive free of charge through the Health Unit. Throughout the province supplies for these dressing cost over $11,000 last year – approximately 4,500 hours of volunteer hours throughout the province.

They are thankful for  the support given to them over the years in their fund raising endeavours so that theycan give back to our community.
