The Maritime Heritage Centre will introduce a new speaker series called Nautical Nights this fall, which will focus on local experts' unique perspectives and experiences with the sea.
Ruedi Pletscher and Sheldon Boyd will open up the first talk on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. Pletscher and Boyd are experienced divers and will present "What, Where, and Why of Scuba Diving. The two divers will talk about what inspired them to start scuba diving. They will also share some of their adventures underwater. Their presentation will include demonstrations on diving equipment, underwater photographs, and diving artifacts from the centre's collection.
“This series is a perfect fit with the Centre's mandate to foster appreciation for our maritime heritage,” explains Erika Anderson, executive director of the Maritime Heritage Centre. “By sharing these firsthand experiences with the ocean, we’re able to connect the community with the rich marine history and environment that surround us, inspiring a deeper understanding and respect for our coastal culture.”
